Outstanding Tai Chi Figure of the Year for 2006

—Beverley Noonan—

Beverley Noonan is selected as an outstanding Tai Chi Figure 2006 from Tai Chi Fitness Australia.

Beverley Noonan is selected as an outstanding Tai Chi Figure 2006 from Tai Chi Fitness AustraliaBeverley exhibits all the positive aspects that people who practice Tai Chi expect, or hope to find for themselves. She is happy, calm, has a respect for everyone and is always willing to assist others.

Looking at Beverley performing Tai Chi now, you can not tell she is the same Beverley as she started Tai Chi 22 month ago. It is not widely known, but some years ago, Beverley suffered severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident, including her neck, hips and knees, she was hardly moving around without pain. She has battled these injuries since and was undergoing regular physiotherapy. Since first coming to Tai Chi, she has not had to return to the physiotherapist, has regained much mobility in her joints and admits to having much less stress in her life.

Beverley is a great ambassador for Tai Chi; She constantly strives to promote Tai Chi, to ensure that people can achieve the benefits of the art, things such as preventing and relieving many of the chronic diseases that afflict our society.

She participates in all the promotional activities to increase community awareness of Tai Chi. She has appeared in many demonstrations of Tai Chi across Sydney, for example at the Body—Mind—Spirit Exhibitions in Darling Harbour, the A’ba Prefecture promotion at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel and many others. Not only appearing at promotional activities, Beverley has taken part in fund raising in support of the Cancer Council of New South Wales and Bankstown Hospital. Her other activities include cooperating with Sydney University in a research study to determine the benefits of Tai Chi for obese teenagers.

Beverley has achieved levels 1, 2 and 3 Tai Chi, taught by Sue Chang. Level 3 is the China National Standard 24 form Tai Chi. She has also learnt the 42 form competition Tai chi, and is currently learning the Tai Chi Sword.

A worthy recipient of the Tai Chi Figure of the Year.
